Getting started¶
This page allows new users to get in touch with theory, concepts, and features at the core of the platform.
Lab inventory management¶
LabID embeds an advanced lab inventory management system. It models various entities used in a laboratory. Items can be created directly by users, also in batch. Once registered, interfaces allow browsing and interacting with items.
-
- Understand how the different lab items are modelled and organised
- When first approaching the topic, we advise first looking into how the inventory management system is designed.
- Read about the lab inventory models
-
- Add items to your lab inventory
- Once the inventory models and their organisation are understood, you should look into how to add items to your inventory. Single items can be added manually through a web form; however, when first joining, we advise looking into batch creation with spreadsheets.

The Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)¶
- LabID features a powerful ELN for taking and organising notes, meticulously recording lab work. An entire section of the documentation is dedicated to introducing concepts and breaking down features of our ELN.
Dataset Management¶
- LabID is capable of ingesting data and keeping track of entire lineages from samples through assays to datasets.
