Attachments

Overview

Files can be attached to any item. Supported attachments types and formats are:

  • Pictures
  • Text Files
  • PDF Files
  • Documents
  • Office (e.g. .doc(x), .odt),
  • Spreadsheet (e.g. .xls(x))
  • Presentation (e.g. .ppt(x))

When the edit mode is on, the header displays a zone in which files to be uploaded can be dropped. Alternatively, click Browse and pick a file through the operating system file manager

Integration with the Libre Office Online Library (LOOL)

LabID integrates Libre Office Online Library to let users view and edit attached document in the browser. LOOL is provided by the Libre Office organisation and it functions similarly to the desktop application. It is the libre counterpart of the Microsoft Office Suite. For more details about how to use Libre Office please refer to their online documentation

Collaborative work

Providing a colleague has permission on the parent item, you can collaboratively and simultaneously edit the same attached document.

This works on protocols, lab notes, etc.

Note on permission

Attachment modification underly LabID permission scheme. In order to be able to edit an attachment, you will need to have the edit permission on the parent object, e.g. if an attachment is uploaded to an ELN note, edit permissions on this note are needed to edit an attachment
